{"id":65,"date":"2023-05-22T21:12:33","date_gmt":"2023-05-22T21:12:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blog.suryapadhiea.com\/blog\/?p=65"},"modified":"2023-05-22T21:12:34","modified_gmt":"2023-05-22T21:12:34","slug":"interest-rates-remain-the-same-for-the-third-quarter-of-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.suryapadhiea.com\/blog\/irs-tips\/interest-rates-remain-the-same-for-the-third-quarter-of-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Interest rates remain the same for the third quarter of 2023."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Issue Number: \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0IR-2023-104<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>WASHINGTON \u2014 The Internal Revenue Service today announced that interest rates will remain the same for the calendar quarter beginning July 1, 2023.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For individuals, the rate for overpayments and underpayments will be 7% per year, compounded daily.&nbsp; Here is a complete list of the new rates:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>7% for overpayments (payments made in excess of the amount owed), 6% for corporations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>4.5% for the portion of a corporate overpayment exceeding $10,000.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>7% for underpayments (taxes owed but not fully paid).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>9% for large corporate underpayments.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Under the Internal Revenue Code, the rate of interest is determined on a quarterly basis.&nbsp; For taxpayers other than corporations, the overpayment and underpayment rate is the federal short-term rate plus 3 percentage points.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Generally, in the case of a corporation, the underpayment rate is the federal short-term rate plus 3 percentage points, and the overpayment rate is the federal short-term rate plus 2 percentage points.&nbsp; The rate for large corporate underpayments is the federal short-term rate plus 5 percentage points.
